About
Farhan Tanvir
Software Architect, Full-Stack Engineer and Technical Leader
I design and deliver enterprise software that stays clear under pressure: well-modelled data, explicit boundaries, and systems a team can still reason about three years later.

Background
Professional biography
I work across the full delivery path of enterprise systems — from domain modelling and API design through to deployment, observability and long-term maintenance.
My focus areas are academic and institutional platform modernisation, high-integrity transactional systems, and the architecture work that lets a small team ship reliably: clean service boundaries, a normalised and well-indexed data model, cache strategy that matches real read patterns, and automated verification at every layer.
I care most about the parts of a system that are hard to retrofit — correctness of the data model, clarity of the API contract, and operational visibility. Those decisions determine whether a platform can absorb five years of changing requirements or has to be rewritten.
Leadership
Leadership philosophy
Engineering leadership is mostly about removing ambiguity. My work as a lead is to make the target state explicit, keep the feedback loop between decision and evidence short, and give engineers enough context to make good calls without waiting on me.
I favour written architecture decisions over meetings, small reversible steps over large releases, and measured outcomes over assertions. When a system fails, the question is what the design allowed — not who typed the change.
Core principles
Clarity, ownership, resilience, quality and accountability
- Clarity
- A design is finished when the next engineer can predict how it behaves without reading every line.
- Ownership
- The person who ships a change owns its behaviour in production, not just its merge.
- Resilience
- Assume dependencies fail. Design timeouts, fallbacks and recovery before the incident, not during it.
- Quality
- Constraints in the database, validation at the boundary, and tests that would actually fail if the logic broke.
- Accountability
- Decisions are written down with their trade-offs so they can be revisited on evidence rather than memory.
